The jokers of Bharatiya Janata Party!

There was a time that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of which Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was the main component, was actually taken seriously by some very informed people of India. Today the same Bharatiya Janata Party is a collection of jokers who don’t even know where to point the finger. So they collectively decided to expel Jaswant Singh for writing a book on Jinnah. It appears than none of the jokers has read the book but are ready to pass a judgment. These yoyos have never understood that if there was no Atal Bihari Vajpayee, they would never have seen the corridors of power. Rajnath Singh would still be supplying milk on the streets of Ghaziabad and Lal Krishna Advani would still be riding the golden ‘Rath’ with a cardboard sword in his hand. It was Vajpayee and his confidants like Jaswant Singh, Yashwant Sinha and Brijesh Mishra who managed to complete a full term in the office. Can you imagine the current crop of jokers in BJP ever winning enough seats in the parliament and then forming a government at the center? It is a matter of time before Bharatiya Janata Party goes back to being a regional party at best or a Shiv Sena type marginal party at worst. Advani was never a national leader and now he is just another old-fart sticking to a ceremonial position till he actually kicks the bucket.

‘Jhatka’ culture of Indian entertainment industry!

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs started on June 5, 2009 with usual gaudy sets and adults talking to children as if they were retarded. These are 8-12 year old children, not 3 of 4 year olds. We don’t even talk to our not yet 3 year old grandson like that. What do you think these children would grow up to be – mentally retarded? Shri Subhash Chandra of Zee TV needs to bring some adult supervision to his lower-middle class entertainment programs. The last Sa Re Ga Ma Pa started with high quality talent in 2008, and despite clean-shaven boobs of Himesh Reshammiya the show was promising till the end when the ‘Ghatis’ of Shiv Sena took over the stage.

India is a country with exceptional talent in every single human endeavor, including entertainment industry and yet we have failed to evolve as a sophisticated audience. One of the reasons for that is a low expectation from our domestic entertainment industry. On one hand India has produced a film like ‘Cheeni Kum’ and then goes and churns out garbage like ‘Chandni Chowk to China’. This extreme contrast in tastes and perceptions is shocking for an emerging India. We have had 60 years to develop our tastes and sensibilities and yet we seem to equate a dehati ‘Tamasha’ to urban entertainment. The sets of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs 2009 are worst than a ‘Munni Bai Ka Kotha’. Indian media, specifically the entertainment media, ought to take professional help from qualified stage designers and pay them for their badly required services. We need qualified professionals behind quality productions!

How would you rate P. Chidambaram as a Home Minister?

Palaniappan Chidambaram has just completed 4 months as the new Home Minister of India. How would you rate his performance so far? Let us not compare him to his predecessor Shivraj Patil as that would be an extreme, comparing him to Sardar Patel would be another extreme! Let us judge him for what he was expected to do and what he has achieved. P Chidambaram was thrust into this position in post 26/11 atmosphere when the whole nation was disgusted by the country’s most timid Home Minister, Shivraj Patil of Maharashtra, a sycophant of the Nehru/Gandhi cabal. This dandy (Shivraj Patil) disgraced the country but Bal Thackeray and his Shiv Sena had no complaints with him. So much for their phony ‘Hindutva’ and patriotism!

Since November 30, 2008 when Chidambaram was forced into this position, much to his displeasure, he has performed reasonably well. Except for one minor incident in Assam on January 9, 2009 , there has been some form of stability in the internal security apparatus of India. Chidambaram has been the most pro-active Home Minister in India in a very long time. He is not waiting for the next terrorist attack but has been busy reconstructing the outdated internal security infrastructure in India. This Minister for Home Affairs is adamant on creating the nation-wide hub for National Security Guards and at the same time building an effective and credible Indian Coast Guard . If we had him as our Home Minister to begin with, we might not have been so vulnerable in the first place. Just THINK about this observation!

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa degenrated into a ‘Marathi Tamasha’

Last night, Saregamapa Challenge 2009 3rd Jan Episode48 was shocking! The only professional music program in India is also turning into a crude political vehicle. What else would qualify the ‘Marathi creep’, Raj Thackeray to be shown on the program, supporting a Marathi contestant? As if that was not enough, the entire Shiv Sena appeared this morning on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and supported Vaishali Made but not Yashita Yashpal Sharma, who was also born and brought up in Maharashtra! This entire Marathi Gang is anti-national and must be watched carefully!

Send Raj Thackeray to Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp!

Raj Thackeray has qualified to be admitted to the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp, Cuba. Indians have been accepted to Berkley, Harvard and Stanford Universities, but nobody has managed to secure a seat at ‘Gitmo’. If any ‘Mumbaikar’ has a problem with that, Government of India could use its newly found influence with the US to get one additional berth for him too. I had mixed feelings about the whole idea of Guantanamo bay and the technique of ‘Waterboarding’ the terrorists. Watching Raj Thackeray and his reign of terror, through Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, I am convinced about the justification of having a facility like Gitmo. These characters are not fit to live in a civilized society. Violence for any reason is totally unacceptable.

Rajasaheb Shrikant Thackeray was born on June 14, 1968 in Bombay, India. He is the son of late Shrikant Thackeray, a musician and a Marathi film-maker, who was also the younger brother of Balasaheb Thackeray, founder of the militant Shiv Sena. Raj was educated at the Bal Mohan Vidya Mandir, a school located in Dadar, close to his residence in Shivaji Park. He is an arts graduate from Sir J J School of Arts, Bombay. He likes to draw cartoons like his estranged uncle Bal Thackeray. Raj started his political career as a youth-wing leader in the Shiv Sena. He rose through the ranks and was seen as the number two in the party before his alleged involvement in the Ramesh Kinny murder case. Balasaheb side-tracked Raj in favor of his own son Uddhav Thackeray. Raj Thackeray resigned from the party in December 2005 after blaming Uddhav and his companions for ruining the Shiv Sena. He formed the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on March 9, 2006.
